At ELM, we approach health through a root-cause, whole-person lens. Founded by physician associate Ashlyn Smith, our practice integrates specialized endocrine care with the foundational pillars of lifestyle medicine—nutrition, physical activity, restorative sleep, stress management, and social connection. Whether you're navigating diabetes, thyroid conditions, PCOS, or other metabolic challenges, we work collaboratively to identify the underlying causes of your symptoms and support your journey toward sustainable, compassionate healing. Our care is personalized, evidence-based, and focused on helping you thrive—not just get by.

Frequently Asked Questions

What services does ELM currently offer?

At this time, ELM offers educational consultations focused on endocrine health, metabolic wellness, and lifestyle strategies. These sessions are designed to empower individuals with evidence-based guidance on topics such as nutrition, blood sugar management, hormone balance, and more.

What is lifestyle medicine, and how is it integrated into my ELM experience?

Lifestyle medicine uses evidence-based approaches—nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress management, avoidance of risky substances, and social connection—to prevent, manage, and potentially reverse chronic disease. At ELM, these principles are woven into every treatment plan, alongside endocrine expertise.

Who provides education at ELM?

Education (and care coming soon) is led by Ashlyn Smith, a board-certified physician associate (PA) with advanced training and clinical experience in endocrinology and lifestyle medicine. She is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of PAs and passionate about root-cause, whole-person care.

What makes ELM different from a traditional endocrinology clinic?

We go beyond symptom management to identify root causes. Our approach combines conventional endocrine care with lifestyle medicine to address the full picture—not just lab values—while centering your goals, preferences, and long-term well-being.

What others are saying about ELM

M.S.

“Working alongside PA Ashlyn Smith has been an invaluable experience, both professionally and personally. From the beginning, PA Smith fostered a collaborative clinical environment where every team member’s contribution was valued. Her depth of knowledge in endocrinology and patient-centered approach consistently elevated the quality of care we provided.

What stood out most was PA Smith’s commitment to education—not only for patients but also for staff. She took the time to explain clinical reasoning, share the latest evidence-based practices, and encourage ongoing learning, which greatly enhanced my own clinical acumen and confidence. Whether reviewing complex cases or discussing treatment plans, PA Smith always welcomed dialogue and teaching opportunities in a respectful and supportive manner.

Her leadership helped create a multidisciplinary team environment grounded in respect, learning, and excellence in patient care. It has been a privilege to work alongside such a skilled and compassionate provider.”
